Download speed
Improving download speed of webpages is important to the success of a website. Internet users are impatient with slow websites and will move on if the webpage takes too long to render (also known as download). There are a few things you can do to improve download speed of your web pages which include implementing techniques to optimize web site performance. This article will suggest some ideas on how optimize web site performance and improve web site download speed.
Processor speed
If the computers processor is small, then uploading the website will take a long time. If the additional web server is too slow, it would benefit if the owner of the website had multiple web servers in order to make more available and balance the load. This will make the web server work more effectively, and perform better.
Bandwidth
A faster Internet connection is appealing to everyone. The faster people retrieve information and transfer data, the more time they save. Bandwidth and their broadband Internet connection go hand in hand. The more bandwidth that there are allocated, the faster the transfer rate will be and the faster the broadband connection speed will be.
JPEG
Joint Photographic Experts Group or JPEG files are a type of compressed bitmap file. This lossy compression technique reduces the size of an image by discarding details that are typically too insignificant for the human eye to detect. Since the format supports 16 million colors, it does a very good job of analyzing what data is the most important to a particular image. The format is well suited to digital photography, but doesn't work well for saving line drawings or clip art images that have little available data to compress.
GIF
A Graphics Interchange Format (GIF) file is another type of compressed bitmap file. Unlike JPEG images, GIFs are saved using a lossless compression technique. This format works well for line drawings, black and white graphics, or simple text-based images. They also allow transparency and animation, making them quite popular among web designers seeking to create unique effects for their sites. The format is not well suited for photos, however, since it only supports 256 colors.
